Ed Sowers


Ed founded DMP Hawaii in late 2001 and has been working in the visitor industry for over 35 years with more than 25 years in Hawaii. He has a breadth of experience in this marketplace that is simply unique. He has worked with Branded and non-Branded Hotels and Condominium Resorts and overseen properties ranging from one diamond to five. Experienced with openings, management transitions both incoming and exiting, REO/distressed properties, timeshare resorts, and mixed use properties.

Ed has served both the industry and the community through a host of organizations which include leadership positions with the Maui Visitors Bureau, Hawaii Visitor and Convention Bureau, Civil Service Commission, Food Bank, Church Building Committee, and a host of others. He is a recognized as an innovator and creative leader.


Paul Tomonari

VP Sales and Marketing

Paul began his distinguished career in Sale with Westin Hotels in 1974. A graduate of the University of Hawaii Travel Industry Management, Paul’s path took him through various sales positions in the island including Director of Sales and Marketing for Stouffer in Wailea and with the Ilikai prior to making the jump to operations as a General Manager with Aston, Westcoast, and Wyndham Hotels. This rare blend of senior positions in both Sales and Operations lead Paul to first serve Marc resorts as their VP of Sales and Marketing and later as their Executive VP.

Paul remains very active with his church serving in programs focused on helping others. Additionally, he gives back to our community as a campaign coordinator for American Heart Association, and serves on other Boards include Aloha Festivals, and Ho’omaika’I School for Creative Hearts.

Paul’s input to DMP as our advisor in Sales and Marketing is highly valued and because of his outstanding breadth of experiences, he is also able to handle a broad range of special projects and assignments.


Marcos De La 'O

VP Accounting

Marcos De La O’ has more than 30 years of hospitality finance experience. He has managed financial operations for resorts, convention hotels, boutique hotels, standard hotels, gaming hotels and vacation ownership properties. Small, medium or large, Marcos has always found innovative solutions to increase revenues and streamline operations, while ensuring that service qualities remained intact.

Marcos was directly responsible for two successful hotel openings and a successful hotel brand transition in Hawaii. His most recent opening experience was that of a 400 room Miami Beach Resort. The resort’s first year posted 55% EBITDA, maintaining a $200 average rate at 65% occupancy. The results were accomplished by innovative staffing solutions and relentless revenue management. The resort has no hotel brand affiliation, so all directives, guidelines and system integration were initiated internally.

As well as working in many states on the U.S. Mainland, he has worked in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Turks and Caicos, Aruba and the Big Island of Hawaii.

Currently, Marcos also serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Hawaii Care and Cleaning, Hawaii’s premier hotel, resort and building maintenance and cleaning service company.


John Patterson

VP Development

John has a successful history in real estate brokerage and development while serving Hawaii for over thirty-five years. John is focused on assisting our team with identification of owners that will derive maximum benefits from services of DMP Hawaii.

As Principal of JPI Realty he has maintained an opportunistic approach to the cycles of the market. His career has produced superior results for national clients and partners through a combination of market knowledge, a strategic investment approach, timely deal structuring, exercised discipline and defined exit strategies. While serving both private and public entities has been involved in over a billion dollars of transactions through acquisition, development and disposition. He has focused on vetting opportunity with emphasis on backend execution. More than ever before in these uncertain times professional and experienced consultation is vital to ensure that owner goals are achieved and returns maximized.

Fred Li

Fred Li

Director of Onboarding

Fred has been involved in the Hawaii Hospitality industry for over ten years. During that time he has directed management transitions at more than forty hotels and resorts. He has successfully interfaced reservation, property management, accounting and reporting systems from many different application vendors.

Fred earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii with an emphasis on Information Technology. He has an outstanding ability to communicate effectively with software/hardware vendors, management leadership, and end users. Fred's experience, attention to detail, and calm approach are all critical attributes to insuring a successful onboarding experience.
